Prayer Vigil for our Ancestors at The Bethel Burying Ground – MARCH 29TH!
Did you know that a cemetery containing the remains of
more than 5,000 Black men, women, and children from the 18TH AND 19TH
centuries is desecrated under a city playground in the four hundred block of
Catherine Street in Philadelphia, PA?
Did you know that the City of Philadelphia is more concerned with its
plans to renovate the grounds of that playground than to protect and preserve
those historic ancestral remains? Did
you know that a broad-based organization called the Friends of Bethel Burying
Ground Coalition is leading the battle to support our buried ancestors and to permanently
protect and preserve this publicly owned historic site?
ON MARCH 29TH WE WILL HOLD A PRAYER VIGIL
FOR THE 5,000 OF OUR ANCESTORS WHO ARE BURIED AT THE BETHEL BURYING GROUND
LOCATED IN THE FOUR HUNDRED BLOCK OF CATHERINE STREET. WE ARE ASKING YOU TO JOIN US IN PRAYER AND
LIBATIONS ON THAT DAY TO ENSURE THAT OUR ANCESTORS MAY NOT ONLY REST IN PEACE,
BUT THAT JUSTICE BE DONE AND THAT THEIR LIVING NOT BE IN VAIN. WE HOPE TO SEE ALL OF YOU AT THIS VERY
IMPORTANT, VERY SPIRITUAL AND VERY MOMENTOUS OCCASION. FBBGCoalition@gmail.com
